Dr. Bruce Li earned his doctoral degree from the University of Newcastle, Australia, focusing on multiphase flow phenomena in bioprocessing. Concurrently, he served as a Research Assistant at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. LanzaTech, a biotech startup, sought consultation from Dr. Li's lab on bioreactor-related matters. Completing his PhD studies in 2012, he joined LanzaTech, leading bioreactor design and scaling-up efforts. In 2014, Dr. Li relocated to the US with the company, continuing to pioneer innovative bioreactor designs. He served as the technical lead for U.S. Department of Energy-funded research projects, collaborating globally with prominent institutes. In 2018, after the successful commissioning of the world's first commercial-scale gas fermentation plant, Dr. Li transitioned back to academia. Since April 2019, he has been a faculty member at the School of Biotechnology, Jiangnan University, known for expertise in Food Science and Engineering. Dr. Li also holds a guest professorship at the Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Leveraging his extensive expertise, Dr. Li assists organizations with technical challenges in bioprocessing and bioreactor design. His practical knowledge and research contributions have earned him a reputable standing in the field, making him a valuable asset to the industry. Dr. Li is a strategic advisor to the CEO at T&J Bioengineering (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., a prominent bioreactor manufacturer in China. Managing the firm’s U.S. subsidiary, he leads its international expansion efforts, further solidifying his pivotal role in advancing bioreactor technology globally.
